UPDATE: We are thrilled to share that Lucy was officially BEFORE any of her puppies were! 🙂
NEW YORK, NY – May 3, 2016: In early March, our NC rescue partners, Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary, took in two dogs that were abandoned in a home after the owners, young drug addicts, vacated the premises. Neighbors were alerted by the dog’s barking. One of the female dogs was taken in by another rescue and FF took in the second dog, who was very, very pregnant. They contacted us to ask if we could take the mama-to-be and we agreed. Within a few days, Lucy gave birth to five healthy puppies – one boy and four girls. The entire family is being flown up to us courtesy of the kind pilots at Pilots to the Rescue
Lucy, estimated to be about two years old, is a 40lb. cat and dog friendly Collie/Lab/Basset mix. The daddy of her babies is a pocket-sized Pit Bull that sadly, we were unable to take in. Lucy is up to date on vaccinations and will be spayed once her milk dries up. As of publication, her litter as been weened and everyone, including mama, is in excellent health!
