NEW YORK, NY – Nov. 6: Christian is a 2yr old, 46lb pit bull who was brought to our city shelter in early October after being found as a stray. He was covered in blood from what the city shelter said were bite wounds, but were found to have embedded glass in them upon intake at the shelter. He was unable to walk on his own and needing to be wheeled in. Christian was placed on a DOH hold due to his “bites.”
We pulled Christian on Nov. 4 and brought him to our vet, where it was determined his wounds were, in fact, not bite wounds, but slash and puncture wounds. We suspect he went through a window or glass door. He has shoulder and oral issues that are being evaluated in order to learn more. We will update him after he undergoes a series of x-rays, scheduled for Nov. 9.
While we don’t know exactly what happened to Christian or what his past may have been, his external wounds have begun to heal. His spirit, however, doesn’t seem to need any healing as Christian has been all smiles since the day he entered the shelter, according to staff and volunteers, and has been nothing but love and light since we pulled him. His foster mom is over the moon for him! Christian loves everyone he meets and eagerly wags his tail by every dog he passes. Christian is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. To apply to adopt him, please fill out our online application, or email Marisa@mrbonesandco.org with further questions.
Special thanks to Christian’s shelter volunteers, Caitlyn and Carol, who advocated for him and shared his pictures, bio and videos with us, and thank you to his angel Tami, a compassionate animal welfare advocate who made a donation in his name!
