New York NY: Feb. 5, 2016 – Beans came to us from our city shelter where was brought in as a stray with a fairly serious bite wound on his neck and a few superficial wounds on his face. When we received an email requesting help for him, we couldn’t say no to this ridiculously adorable face!
Beans is a Bity, otherwise known as a Boston Terrier/Pit Bull mix. Yup, you read that correctly! At approximately 7-months-old, this hilariously unique pup weighs 21 lbs. and won’t grow much larger. This Itty-Bitty-Pitty is affectionate, silly and has all the vets and staff laughing while he spends a few days at one of our dedicated primary care vets, Pure Paw Veterinary Care in Brooklyn, NY where he is recovering from a URI contracted at the shelter. He will be neutered and have a tooth issue fixed and then will begin foster care. Beans also has a condition known as cherry eye, an issue where his third eyelid flips, which will be surgically corrected in the coming days.
Unfortunately, it appears that Beans was kept in a crate or small enclosed area most of his life as his carpals and “ankles” are underdeveloped, resulting in “flat” feet. This issue should correct itself over time as he gains strength and muscle tone.
