Sept. 23, 2019: SIMBA’S STORY: In January 2019 a little Potcake with the most soulful of eyes was brought to Abaco Shelter as a heap of bones and sweetness. They named him SIMBA and he’s been searching for a kingdom of his own ever since.
The origins of SIMBA’s scarring and battered, zigzagging, stumpy little tail is unknown but all of that was forgotten once the kind people at Abaco Shelter took him in. When Hurricane Dorian hit SIMBA handled the fear an uncertainty like a warrior, riding our the storm with 19 other dogs in a vacant warehouse that managed to withstand a direct hit from a category five storm. This medium sized, 40lb. boy LOVES people and is quite the affectionate hugger, frequently seen standing on his hind legs greeting humans with open paws and ‘hugs.’
An estimated 2 years old, SIMBA has settled into our #OneLuckyPup program, and city life, remarkably well with his foster mom, Samantha, in NYC’s famed Greenwich Village. If you’re local you may have caught a glimpse of this gentle, polite dog enjoying the sights and sounds of Washington Square Park where he walks bravely and without fear or hesitation.
This stunning #Potcake #Boxer mix would love a home where his family enjoys the outdoors. He is dog selective, preferring females to males. SIMBA has a clean bill of health, is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped and is ready to be adopted!
