NEW YORK, NY – Oct. 17, 2015: Bruce was found in Brooklyn, NY, suffering from multiple fractures, including two femoral fractures of varying ages in both of his hind legs and multiple rib fractures that were sustained over a period of time. He was also suffering from mange and weighed only 27lbs.,when, at 7-months-old, he should weigh 40-45lbs. Unable to walk, he dragged himself where he could. Our city shelter was unable to care for him and after putting out multiple please to New Hope rescues, while our One Lucky Pup program is over capacity, we could not watch him suffer and so we took him in on Oct. 10, bringing him immediately to our emergency care partners, The Animal Medical Center in Manhattan.
Bruce underwent surgery to repair his right leg and began treatment for mange. He has begun physical therapy and will be discharged from the hospital on Oct. 20. Once his right leg is stabilized, he will undergo a second surgery and will likely have his left leg amputated. Despite all of this, Bruce won’t stop wagging his tail and he doles out kisses to anyone who is receptive to them. This grateful Pit Bull puppy is all love and light. With so many people fighting to make sure this dog comes out on top, we know his happy ending is out there!
If you would like to adopt Bruce (as soon as he is medically cleared) please fill out our adoption application, or email elli@mrbonesandco.org with any questions.
